Mosaics have been a part of history starting with the oldest found to date to the 3^rd millennium BCE, in a temple in Mesopotamia. Mosaics often used thousands of small flat tiles to make up a larger image. Often stone, colored glass, shells, and ivory were used to create these magnificent works of art. This exhibit will feature many local artists as well as artists from around the country displaying works by using, glass, tiles, stones, paper, beads, and many other types of tesserae.
