Check Mate!
Check Mate! is a captivating exhibition showcasing over 50 distinctively handcrafted chess boards and sets from around the globe. Alongside the games displayed throughout the gallery, the walls will feature chess-inspired artwork created by talented artists. Artists are encouraged to apply for this call to exhibit wall art with a chess theme. Visitors can also enjoy playing on available chessboards, complete with game timers, and many of the sets will be available for purchase.

Dating back to the 10th century, the game of chess derives its name from the Persian term Shah Mat, meaning "the King is slain." This exhibition invites you to explore the creative craftsmanship of international chess sets, view local artists' interpretations of the game, and uncover fascinating trivia about chess. Join us for a fun and inspiring celebration of chess and art!
