Small Art, Big Impact in Rancho Cordova

Each year, Rancho Cordova Arts brings together artists, collectors, and community members for one of the region’s most meaningful creative events: the Micro Masterpieces fundraiser. What began as a modest initiative has grown into a powerful engine for arts education, proving that even the smallest works of art can create lasting impact.

At the heart of the event are hundreds of original 6-by-6-inch artworks, generously donated by local and regional artists. These pieces—ranging from painting and photography to ceramics and mixed media—are auctioned to the public, often starting at accessible price points. The format invites both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers to participate, democratizing art ownership while supporting a vital cause.

But the true value of Micro Masterpieces extends far beyond the gallery walls. Proceeds from the auction are used not as general funds, but to directly purchase art supplies for teachers and classrooms. This targeted approach ensures that resources reach students where they are needed most. Over time, the fundraiser has generated tens of thousands of dollars in supplies, benefiting thousands of students and hundreds of educators throughout the region.

The impact is tangible. Schools that once struggled to provide even basic materials now have access to paints, brushes, paper, and other essential tools. Teachers—many of whom previously paid out of pocket—are better equipped to deliver meaningful creative experiences. And perhaps most importantly, students are given the opportunity to explore, express, and develop through art.
