An Exhibit Featuring the Social Justice Sewing Academy
SJSA empowers young people to express themselves and create change through sewing and textile art. Social Justice education, Make A Community Quilt workshops, and art quilt programming are SJSA core activities that help middle and high school students grow as critical thinkers, artists, and advocates.
Movies, music (and books) are often seen as the artforms that help drive social change. But a textile artist has been exploring expression through sewing, specifically the power of quilts as activism. We’ll talk about it with Sara Trail, founder of the Social Justice Sewing Academy, and Cheryl Gleason, Art Director and Curator for the Mills Station Arts & Culture Center. CLICK HERE
