Facing the Inferno
Photography of Kari Greer; Special Exhibit with Shane Grammer
Californians are all too familiar with wildfires and their destruction. Year after year the “fire season” grows in length and severity. This exhibit features the work of Kari Greer, a Sacramento State graduate in photography. Greer works for the National Interagency Fire Center based in Boise, Idaho. She specializes in wildland fire photography and editorial photojournalism. Her interest in wildland fire photography was sparked during a college year spent working for the Forest Service fire crew on the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest Fire. The goal of this project is to help propel greater public conversation and understanding of this volatile dynamic.
The second part of the exhibit will focus on photographs to celebrate the firefighters and survivors of devastating western wildfires.
Artwork of Shane Grammer
Shane Grammer is an artist who worked with Disney. After the Paradise fire devastation, he took a road trip to the area and painted several murals on chimneys and rock walls that were left on the premises of fire-ravaged properties. This was an uplifting spot of beauty where devastation had reigned. He has agreed to bring his photos to display and present to a Zoom or in-person lecture on his work in Paradise.
